Parting shot

There are only a few people in this world I hold dear in my heart. Out of the few names that made it to my list, these guys (the Metro team pictured below) definitely made the cut!

Three years ago, I never imagined I would come this far in my career, but with the encouragement of a certain EIC, I got the push I needed to excel in my chosen field, and so losing her was a shock—one that I never anticipated would happen so soon.

Michealle Torres is a woman that I truly respect. We didn’t start off on the best note (I would know because she gave me a sermon for not sending the stories she told me to write on time LOL) but we did end on a high one. I started out as the team’s Staff Writer and all I knew was re-write PRs and profiles. Though I enjoyed it, I felt that there was something missing but I didn’t know what it was. Mich knew it straight away and put me in the position of Fashion Assistant.

I thought that I initially filled the spot of Fashion Assistant because I was the only one that could work with our then Fashion Editor. She soon gave me real work—two pages of fashion filled awesomeness that I look forward to writing every month.

But apart from the new tasks I had to deliver, Mich ultimately believed that I could make it in the fashion industry, and for that I am truly grateful. Without her I would probably still be stuck writing boring PR pages and never would have realized that I could make it where I am today.

Nearly three years to the date we both joined the Metro team (I came in just a couple of weeks before she did) and after rebuilding the magazine together under her direction, it is with a heavy (but happy) heart that I say bonjour to the REAL HOUSEWIFE OF PARIS. I wish you all the best and the next time we see you, hopefully it will be your wedding day. You deserve your happy ending, and what could be more romantic than flying to Paris??
